The Town originated from land that made up Ariston Farm. The farm was built by China and David Lybrook in the 1920's and would become a retirement community, country club, and golf course. Arnold Palmer bought the first lot for sale and built the Bermuda Run Country Club.

The country club was sold in the 1980's to developers who purchased another 234 acres of the farm, and they expanded the area with condominiums, a retirement center, and 9 more holes of golf. Incorporated in 1999; Bermuda Run is one of three gated communities to be an official municipality in the state.
